Bitget Partners with UNICEF Luxembourg to Empower Youth Through Blockchain Education

Bitget, a pioneer in the cryptocurrency exchange sector and a Web3 innovator, has announced a transformative three-year partnership with UNICEF Luxembourg. This collaboration aims to enhance digital skills and foster blockchain literacy among young people, particularly in underserved communities.

Joining the Game Changers Coalition

As part of this initiative, Bitget will become a member of the Game Changers Coalition (GCC), a forward-thinking project spearheaded by UNICEF’s Office of Innovation (OOI). This strategic alliance is expected to impact approximately 300,000 individuals, including adolescent girls, parents, mentors, and teachers across eight countries: Armenia, Brazil, Cambodia, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, and South Africa.

Innovating Blockchain Education

Bitget Academy, the educational arm of Bitget, will take a leading role in developing UNICEF’s inaugural interactive online and in-person training module centered on blockchain technology. The course will be specifically designed to teach video game creation skills, blending creativity and tech proficiency. This is a significant addition to a curriculum already touching the lives of hundreds of thousands, representing an exciting opportunity to elevate educational frameworks globally. Notably, the reach of this initiative is set to expand further, with plans to add a ninth country under its wing.

A Shared Vision for Inclusion

Sandra Visscher, Executive Director of UNICEF Luxembourg, emphasized the collective vision guiding this partnership: “Digital skills are a powerful driver of opportunity and inclusion. By collaborating with Bitget, we want to provide adolescents and young people with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to shape their own futures. Innovation should be a force for inclusion, opening doors and ensuring technology works for everyone, everywhere.”

Building Bridges in Web3

In a proactive effort to enhance this educational initiative, Bitget will introduce UNICEF to leading blockchain protocols and developers in the Web3 landscape. This network of experts and innovators can act as mentors and partners, contributing diverse insights and offering an enriching learning environment for participants.

Addressing Socio-economic Disparities

Gracy Chen, CEO at Bitget, articulated a robust belief in equitable access to emerging technologies: “Emerging technologies should not be reserved for the privileged few—they must be introduced early and equitably. Blockchain, with its real-world use case and potential for social good, is one of the most powerful tools we can give to our younger generation. Initiatives such as Blockchain4Her, which began to empower hundreds of women, have now scaled into a global movement aiming to educate thousands of girls.”

The stark reality remains that adolescent girls and young women in low- and middle-income countries are losing out on an estimated USD 15 billion in economic opportunities each year, attributed to a deficiency in internet access and digital skills compared to their male counterparts. With 90% of today’s jobs requiring digital competencies, the Coalition’s efforts are thus critical for closing the gender digital skills gap.

A Collaborative Vision for the Future

Together, Bitget and UNICEF are not only committed to building a scalable, inclusive model that equips young women with essential tools for the digital economy but are also uniting various stakeholders in this mission. Joining forces with organizations like the Global Video Game Coalition and the Micron Foundation, they share an ambitious goal of reaching 1.1 million girls by 2027, providing them with meaningful learning and skills-building opportunities.

Fostering Financial Independence

Through the support of Bitget Academy and its $10M Blockchain4Her initiative, the partnership is set to enhance digital literacy and promote financial independence among women from a young age. This initiative has already demonstrated its potential by offering mentorship programs, funding, and educational resources to women.

Empowering the Next Generation

Bitget and UNICEF Luxembourg are on a mission to empower a new generation of girls with the knowledge and skills necessary to actively engage in and shape the evolving crypto economy. Through this partnership, they aim to create lasting change and opportunity in digital and blockchain education for youth worldwide.
